A small but expensive mistake many business owners make when endeavour into social media marketing is advertising placement.
Before this becomes a challenge, there are several steps to consider.
A successful social media campaign must start with a strategy. Please consider your resources, budget, roles (who’s responsible for what) and of course your goals before embarking on the social media marketing journey.
Once you are in your Business Manager and decided on your Objective, let’s go deeper.
At the Ad Set level, any advertiser is faced with the dilemma of whether to keep ads’ placement at the default option (at the end of the day it’s recommended by Facebook) or to customise it. Without a doubt, please edit it.
Don’t let the default derail your entire campaign.
Okay, maybe a little dramatic.
However, if you end up spending a lot of money (or any money, really) on placement your ad isn’t designed for, you are essentially losing money. This is one of the reasons why so many entrepreneurs are disappointed with advertising and steer away from Facebook. Yet, they are often unaware. This can be easily resolved.
At the Ad Set level of your advertising, you can edit your placement.
Sometimes I write long copy advertisement. They are really great. However, they don’t work on Instagram the same way. If you are interested to set up Instagram advertising, do so; however ad placement is not the place for it. Let’s untick it.
Sometimes you also want to limit the number of platforms your ad will appear on. For example, you are advertising for an app download which is only available on iOS. It makes sense to exclude Android users for your targeting. Another untick please.
Finally, video placement is only good for video ads. Yet, this is often active for so many unsuspecting advertisers. Untick!
Please double check your Facebook advertising placement. If you are unsure what placement suits your goals, please get in touch.
