Why Social Media Isn’t a Solution to Everything?

Social media has been a mad craze. Many amazing entrepreneurs are employing it to be seen, get their product or services out there and collect sales. These are very reasonable goals. However social media marketing doesn’t guarantee any of that. Yet many rely on social media, especially before their business or project is stable. I find it ineffective to do and irresponsible to promise others.

However, I also understand that a lot of this behaviour comes from misunderstanding.

I talk about it a lot and have also covered in my Why Social Media Isn’t Working For You (and how to FIX it!) article. I feel this is such a common problem today that we absolutely must talk more about it. We need o shift how we use social media technology.

Many business owners are not realistic about their social media ROI, while marketers aren’t honest about their tactics. This confuses everyone.

This is not a social media doomsday article. I am honest about social media because I want to help people navigate their marketing efforts improving their results for the better of everyone – better marketing reaches more people in need, which improves providers income so they can impact the world. Honest marketing is a win for everyone!

As a social media strategist and good social ambassador, I talk a lot about the need of honesty in social media marketing and business.

However, you won’t hear me talk much about tactics.

These quick fixes and templated solutions that are sold by millions of marketers are ineffective and, to be honest, often a lie – no one can know what will work for your business before diving into it. This, however, doesn’t mean that you should be pouring your budget down the drain trying and testing waiting for something to stick.

A good social media expert would be able to tell you whether social media is the right solution for you, to start with. And in my work, I always conduct a social media audit to collect data which will help us identify working solutions.

I’ve noticed this doesn’t happen very often. There are many reasons for it.

I caught up with Kim Argetsinger, Mindset Coach and Business Mentor to talk about social media misunderstandings and truths to spotlight many common challenges entrepreneurs are facing today.

We discussed why it isn’t always about having a big following, and why Facebook algorithms don’t always change things.

In over a decade in the social media marketing I’ve tried many different tactics. I also signed up for celebrity courses and did expensive programs. Every time I learned a technique that worked for someone else I tried it myself and rarely collected any results. And this isn’t surprising.

I am aware that my view isn’t the popular one but it is honest.

You cannot achieve meaningful results in your business by trying to fit someone else’s work into your business.

This is true because your work is unique, your business age, niche and offer are different. Your definitions of success will also differ.

No two businesses are the same. Thus, there are never two identical solutions.

In over a decade in social media marketing, I learnt how to help my clients find their own solution that works for them.

Social media helps amplify, systemise and streamline, improving sales and allowing for more space to work in own genius.
